Since the end of 2022, [A]FA Continuations has been dedicated to the Haduwa Apata, in Apam, Ghana. A small team of selected students has jointly worked on an assessment of the current status of its primary bamboo structure and, in addition, hands-on measures have been conducted for CARE and further PLANNING. The vision is to strengthen the overall Haduwa Arts and Culture Institute architecturally and the institute’s operational potentials on site, as well as extend the life span of the bamboo dome, which was realized by [A]FA in 2013 - 2014. From November 2022 onward, the lab has started to introduce the design, process, and context of the existing project remotely in online meetings, followed by lectures and EXPERIMENTING with bamboo on a model scale, to generally understand the parameters of bamboo structures. The first onsite lab in Ghana took place in February 2023. Here, the participants were asked to work along the three main parameters of CARING, EXPERIMENTING, and PLANNING.
